After-School Specials
FALL 2024 SEMESTER

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
We will absolutely need parent volunteers with clearances to help chaperone each club. Look for a Sign-Up Genius link after registrations are confirmed. If we do not receive enough volunteers, we will not be able to run these classes successfully. Thank you in advance for your consideration!
How Registration Works:
- An email will be sent from “Baker PTA (notify@membershiptoolkit.com)” to all Baker families in advance of Oct. 8 with a link to a Google Form for each class. The Google Form will open/become active at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8.
- You are NOT guaranteed a spot just by filling out the Google Form.
- We must manually watch/count how many Google Form submissions we receive per class and then we will contact the families who were among the first to register for a class. (e.g. If a class size allows up to 20 students, then we will take the first 20 Google Form submissions. (Google Form submissions are date/time-stamped for easy and fair verification of who registered first.)
- Students will be limited to ONE (1) class in this Fall Session. The Google Form will ask you to rank your choices.
Fall 2024 Session
These are optional, PAID activities that occur at Baker directly after school.

These are not to be confused with the 4th grade intramurals, art club and chorus. Baker PTA does not manage those particular 4th grade activities -- please continue to work with the appropriate Baker teachers handling those activities.
The Fine Print:
- These are activities which are scheduled and managed by the Baker PTA, as a service to our Baker families. However, Baker PTA does not actually fund these activities -- meaning, families pay a fee for students to participate.
- These activities are run by outside vendors / organizations.
- All vendors, PTA committee members, and parent volunteers involved with After-School Specials must have their clearances.
- There will be a Baker PTA committee member and parent volunteers at Baker on the day of each activity to check-in students and make sure they get to the class location, to generally chaperone all the activities and to ensure safe dismissal to parents or the Extended Day Services After-School Program (EDS).
- EDS is an outside, third party company that provides before and after-school care at Baker Elementary. If you want us to dismiss your child to EDS, you must already be enrolled in the EDS program prior to starting our After-School Specials. Baker PTA cannot enroll you in EDS. You must contact EDS directly: Upper St. Clair | EDS (extendedday.com)
- Teachers will be given in advance a list of students participating in After-School Specials. EDS students will need to go downstairs to "check in" at EDS first. We will have a parent volunteer stationed outside of the EDS room to gather/escort any students attending the After-School Specials that day. Non-EDS students will be dismissed directly from their classrooms to the After-School Specials location specified on the list given to the teachers. We will have a PTA member and/or parent volunteer stationed outside of each activity location to "check in" students to ensure everyone is in the right location.
- At the end of each class, the PTA/parent volunteers will escort students outside and ensure they are picked up safely or sent to EDS (based on parent instructions). The car rider pick-up procedure will be clearly defined in the confirmation emails sent to families selected for this semester's After-School Specials.
- If your child is unable to attend an After-School Special on a particular day (due to illness or other reason), please email afterschoolspecials.baker@gmail.com by 2pm that day so that we know for the check-in process. Unfortunately, no refunds will be issued for missed classes.
- Baker PTA After-School Specials are not to be confused with the 4th Grade activities (Chorus, Art Club and Intramurals), which are managed by the Baker teachers.
- Finally, please note we have to limit the number of students allowed per class due to instructor and space limitations. Waitlists may be possible depending on the vendor/activity. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
