Principal's Office

It is a pleasure to welcome you to Baker Elementary School. Every member of the Baker family is focused on one thing - children. We work each day to ensure the best environment possible to help our kids successfully learn and grow. Whether you are new to Upper St. Clair, joining us with your first child in kindergarten, or you are a veteran Baker family, I encourage you to contact us so we can work together to do what is best for your child. We know that all children are individuals, with their own strengths and needs, and our district's mission is to guide them on their path to becoming "lifelong learners and responsible citizens for a global society."  We are excited to begin that journey with you at Baker.

  

We were honored in 2015 to be named an Exemplary High Performing National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. This is the second time our school has received this recognition. The Blue Ribbon is not an award for a specific achievement, but rather an acknowledgement that our school is consistently making the best decisions to serve our children. We see our most recent Blue Ribbon as a sign that we are on the right path, but we are still progressing.

 

I have a strong affinity for the Upper St. Clair School District. Both my wife and I graduated from Upper St. Clair High School and our children attend Upper St. Clair Schools. I received my Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Bucknell University, my Master of Public Management (with a concentration in Educational Leadership) from Carnegie Mellon University, and my Doctor of Education Degree in Educational Policy, Planning, and Leadership from The College of William & Mary. I began my teaching career at Boyce Middle School in Upper St. Clair before beginning my administrative career as an assistant principal and principal in Alexandria, Virginia. Our family then returned to the South Hills of Pittsburgh and I served as a principal in a neighboring school district before returning home to Upper St. Clair.
